Bike thefts |

This week your local Belmont Safer Neighbourhood Team have been dealing with a pedal cycle theft and the attempted theft of a motorbike. In the first instance a child's mountain bike was stolen from the ground floor balcony of a flat on Tollbar Court, Basinghall Gardens. Can we please remind residents if you have any cycles left out in the open, be that a balcony, front or back garden, then please ensure it is securely locked to an immoveable object with a good quality lock and chain. If you would like your cycle Bike Marked then please keep a look out on Met Engage for any upcoming events, or possibly get in contact with us and an officer could come to your address to mark and register the bike.
We have had an address on Downs Road, which has now had 3 attempts to steal a motorcycle from a locked garage/front garden. On the last occasion there were 5 suspects travelling on 3 Surron electric bikes seen at the address. They were chased away by the owner of the bike. They were all dressed in black, with a balaclavas, and were unidentifiable. If you live in the area and see the suspects hanging around, then please dial 999 and inform the police straight away.
Belmont is generally a very safe ward, so please try not to worry too much. We wish you a happy, sunny weekend, regards, Your Belmont Safer Neighbourhood Team.
